Transforming challenges into opportunities for growth.
My path to becoming a therapist wasn't linear. It's been a journey woven from movement, both physical and metaphorical, and a deep curiosity about the human experience
My story began in the demanding world of ballet. The countless hours spent honing my skills as a performer weren't just about pirouettes and pliés. Ballet instilled in me a profound understanding of the mind-body connection. It taught me that well-being is the foundation for achieving any goal, a belief that continues to guide my work with clients. The discipline of ballet also fostered in me essential life skills - motivation, perseverance, and the importance of structure - qualities that I draw upon every day in supporting my clients on their journeys.
After ballet, a different kind of movement took hold: the wanderlust of a traveler. I embarked on adventures across the globe, immersing myself in diverse cultures and religions. It was like encountering a whole symphony of perspectives, each with its own unique melody and rhythm. Witnessing different ways of life, from belief systems to daily practices, opened my eyes to how perception shapes our experiences. I learned that the world is a vast tapestry woven from countless threads, and understanding these diverse perspectives became a cornerstone of my therapeutic approach.
Working in social work became the next step in my tapestry. Here, I gained invaluable experience working with people from various backgrounds facing unique challenges. Social work provided me with a practical approach to helping others, but it also sparked a deeper curiosity within me. I yearned to explore the "why" behind the struggles, the underlying reasons for the hardships people faced. This insatiable curiosity, coupled with my love for people and the intricate workings of the human brain, ultimately led me to pursue a career in therapy.
Motherhood has also played a significant role in shaping my perspective as a therapist. Being a mum has shown me incredible depths of love, patience, and resilience. It's pushed me to grow in ways I never imagined, and it's given me a unique lens through which to view the human experience. This allows me to connect with clients on a deeper level, particularly those navigating parenthood or complex family dynamics.
As a Spanish woman living in the UK, I bring a unique perspective to therapy. My cultural background allows me to understand the importance of non-verbal communication, such as body language, and the power of warmth and touch within self-regulation practices. Spanish culture often emphasizes strong social bonds and a more expressive communication style. These cultural nuances can be valuable assets in therapy, fostering a sense of connection and creating a safe space for clients to explore their vulnerabilities.
Ultimately, I believe my background allows me to tailor my approach to best suit each client's individual needs and cultural framework. Whether you're a dancer seeking to understand the mind-body connection, a traveler yearning to navigate the complexities of life, or a parent facing unique challenges, I'm here to walk alongside you on your journey towards greater well-being.
